Probiotics

Probiotics* are supplements containing beneficial gut bacteria that promote the growth of good gut microbes and suppress harmful (pathogenic) germs.

The intake of probiotics can also have a supportive effect on the vaginal flora. Specifically, it is the lactobacilli that promote lactic acid production in the vagina. Lactic acid helps maintain the acidic environment, thus offering protection in the vagina.

If you are not keen on oral intake, you can try using vaginal suppositories. I have tried these as well and cannot share any negative experiences regarding their use. When inserted before sleep, nothing leaks out, and the lactic acid can work overnight.

Bladder infection probiotics

Why are they useful?

When too few lactobacilli colonize the vagina, vaginal germs can take over. If the vaginal germ Gardnerella vaginalis then enters the bladder, for example through sex, it can activate "dormant" E. coli bacteria embedded in the bladder wall, leading to another bladder infection.

My Secret Tip

The gut is the key to your well-being, functioning as a large immune organ, with 80% of immune cells residing in the gut.
I can confirm this theory in practice. Probiotics not only help me fight bladder infections, but they also work wonders for my digestion - both constipation and diarrhoea are no longer an issue, and I enjoy a sense of lightness in my abdomen.
